The Regional Joint Assessment Program (RJAP) is expanding under the new name - Musculoskeletal Central Intake and Assessment Centre (MSK CIAC). This program is part of the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).
MSK CIAC will be ready to receive referrals on April 1, 2018. This change is aligned with the Patients First Act (2016) and aimed toward improving access to specialty musculoskeletal care, reducing wait times and improving patient experience.
MSK CIAC will be one point of contact for all assessments for primary hip and knee arthroplasty (joint replacement surgery) referrals in the HNHB LHIN. The HNHB LHIN includes Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand, Brant, Burlington and most of Norfolk county.
Hip and knee assessments will take place at Assessment Centres located in Hamilton, Brantford, Burlington and Niagara. Patients will be booked for an assessment at the location closest to their home, or they may choose the first available assessment at any of the locations within the region or at a preferred location.
